Organisational overview
Members
GPGR is made up of professional apiarists for whom beekeeping is their main occupation, with a perfectly equal gender ratio, producing organic or non-organic jelly throughout mainland France.
Functioning
Members are assigned to various colleges and must comply with the by-laws and the GRF-Gelée Royale Française® label quality standards. A specific “incubator” college has been created : having joined GPGR, beekeepers have two seasons to obtain certification and thus gain access to the GRF-Gelée Royale Française® label.
Terms & conditions
Each member must prove that production is carried out via at least 5 hives, with no requirements in terms of quantity produced. We thus have small producers (less than 1 kg) as well as larger producers (over 40 kg). Our aim is to enable all beekeepers in mainland France to make the most of GPGR’s technical know-how, experience, genetic expertise, etc.
Board of directors
As is the case with all non-profit organisations, GPGR apiarists elect a board of directors, one third of whom are renewed annually during the general meeting, in accordance with the articles of association. The GPGR is also represented in various organisations such as the l’ITSAP (beekeeping and pollination technical and scientific institute), ADA France (regional beekeeping development organisation), and INTERAPI (organisation of bee-product professionals). GPGR is also a member of AFA (French-speaking apitherapy organisation), Apimondia (international federation of beekeepers' associations), and FIMIF (independent Made in France federation).
Committees
To ascertain maximum efficiency throughout the range of its activities, GPGR has established five specialised committees. Committee members are renewed in thirds during general meetings.
The aim of the Selection Committee is to obtain bee types that are efficient royal jelly producers, while taking into consideration their ability to produce honey and pollen, their resistance to disease, their gentle character, and quality of their production… This committee thus bases itself on a selection plan. Queen bees, which are the property of the organisation, are raised in our members’ apiaries throughout France.
As well as a board officer, the committee is composed of Alain COLLET, Nicolas GUINTINI and Mélanie MASSIAS.
The Communication Committee aims to develop the organisation’s communication strategy, both among professional beekeepers and the general public to bolster awareness of the quality procedure its members comply with and which is ascertained by the “GRF-Gelée Royale Française® label”. For instance, this committee is the driving force behind the consumer website, , the royal jelly producers’ technical handbook, the national “royal jelly discovery” event » as well as the numerous communication solutions you may well already be familiar with.
As well as a board officer, the committee is composed of Séverine CANIL, Sandrine FURCATTE, Perrine ROMILLY and Mikaël SUTTER.
The Research Committee is responsible for setting up and following research projects carried out by the organisation that aim to bolster understanding of royal jelly and all its characteristics. It is thanks to this committee that a chemical profile has been established as well as the ‘best before’ date specified in the quality standards.
As well as a board officer, the committee is composed of Arnaud and Anne-Laure DEGAVRE, Thomas DEBAUDRINGHIEN, Guillaume LECAT & Claire HIBON and Laurence NEGRELLO.
The Technical & Financial Committee provides technical assistance to members in particular with regard to training, grouped purchase or the testing of specific equipment. It also drafts numerous technical notes for use by members, and sets up study trips in France or abroad, etc.
As well as a board officer, the committee is composed of Frank BERAUD-LAMI, Rémi COCHE, Pierre-Alain HUTTER and Michaël GOURREAU.
The Brand Management Committee is composed solely of members of the board and handles the technical organisation and follow-up of inspection visits carried out among members to ascertain clear understanding and implementation of the quality standardsin particular. To guarantee the independence, homogeneity and impartiality of this approach, the committee is followed and audited by Bureau Veritas.
